Fall Cable 8 inch Square Knit Pattern - finished square on fur

How to Knit a Cable Square

Fall and winter are perfect times to knit blankets. Have you ever tried to knit blanket squares, then piece them together to make one large blanket? As part of a MAL (make-a-long), I have a cozy fall-themed 8 inch knit square pattern for you today. I joined a wonderful group of designers to offer knit square patterns this month. The idea is that you can use these patterns to make blankets, and you could even donate one to a charity.

Hortense (from Knitting with Chopsticks) and Noorain (from Noors Knits) are hosting the MAL, which also provides crochet square patterns. The hosts will link you to all of the crochet and knit square patterns during each day of the event (Oct 4th – 29th, 2021). The squares are sized at 8 inches and use worsted weight yarn. My knit blanket squares pattern would be perfect for a cozy fall-themed blanket, along with the other knit squares which have an autumn theme.

Knit Square Pattern Bundle

You are also able to purchase all the knit (or crochet) patterns in one collection! Choose the COZY FALL KNIT BLANKET SQUARES BUNDLE or the COZY FALL CROCHET BLANKET SQUARES BUNDLE. Proceeds from the sales of these bundles will go to Cure Childhood Cancer. As part of the charity focus of the event, we encourage everyone to send their finished blankets to a charity distributing them to people in need. The hosts provide a list of charities accepting blankets.

As an extra bonus, you can also win raffle prizes for participation or for purchasing! Click the button below to learn more…

This bundle contains all of the knit blanket square patterns, and as this is a charity event, 50% of the proceeds from each purchase will be donated to the non-profit organization Cure Childhood Cancer.

How do you knit a square?

  • scissors, tapestry needle

Here are some similar yarns below. You could also choose a lovely fall color from my BEST FALL YARNS selection.
