  • Tie the top of the wrapped yarn together with an 8″ piece of yarn, then cut the bottom yarn from the cardboard.
  • Cut a 16” piece of yarn and use it to tie the ‘head’ of the tassel.
  • Using a tapestry needle and the 8″ yarn piece, attach the tassel to the center bottom of the plant hanger.
  • Lastly, trim the tassel ends to even them out.

(See THIS POST for a similar photo tutorial for adding tassels to a scarf)

Important Tips for Crocheting your plant hanger

Some things to keep in mind as you crochet the piece are:

  • The Right Side (RS) will face you as you work the crochet circle. The stitch pattern is reversible, but it helps to assume your RS is facing.
  • Use a stitch marker to keep track of the first stitch in each round.
  • Determine how you wish to hang the planter before you decide how long your hanging cords should be.
  • Make the optional tassel as long or short as you wish.

Finished Size

The finished crochet plant hanger measures approximately 5″ diameter by 6″ length, not including the tassel or hanging cords.  The 15″ length cords and 8″ length tassel will add another 23″ to the length.
