How to crochet a Boho poncho

There are different types of crochet ponchos, and this one features wavy stitch patterns using various fall colors inspired by the Berkshires in Massachusetts. Hit the market or streets with this cozy, striking poncho cocoon. With festival vibes, the tasseled & fringed poncho is perfect for a stylish layer in your fall wardrobe.

NOTES: You will be crocheting the poncho top down in the round, and finishing by adding fringe & tassel ties.

What yarn is best for a crochet poncho for fall?

Warm wool blend yarn is the best choice for a fall poncho, as are acrylic and full wool yarns. You want the top to be cozy for the cooler weather.

Instructions to make the poncho are as follows…

Important Tips for Crocheting your poncho

Some things to keep in mind as you crochet the poncho are:

  • Use a stitch marker to keep track of the first stitch in each round.
  • It is recommended to start a new color yarn round by joining the new color yarn at the last step of the last st in the previous round.
  • Feel free to customize the poncho as follows:
    • work more/less rounds at the bottom if you would like the poncho longer/shorter
    • be sure to have enough yarn for these customizations
    • add optional fringe & tassel ties
