Kitchen Storage Solutions

Does everyone agree that kitchen storage solutions should be attractive if they’re going to be necessary? Why put up with ugly packaging and containers if you don’t need to? My sentiments exactly.

In my last post I discussed tips on decluttering your kitchen, which involves getting rid of unnecessary stuff and choosing a cohesive theme for the look of your kitchen. Hopefully if you’ve followed those tips or already have a cleared-out kitchen, you’re on board with choosing attractive storage solutions for what is left.

I’ve got a budget-friendly shopping guide for simple kitchen storage solutions. Take a look at what I’ve found…these items may just make it into our renovated kitchen soon enough.

Coat and Bag Storage

I’m falling for shaker style coat racks these days. You can’t beat their sturdy functionality and clean-lined look. My plan is to hang them at two levels near our back door – higher for coats, and lower for backpacks and bags. If you’re so inspired, you could also make your own rack with recycled wood and pretty hooks.

Bags to hang on these racks

You can find some pretty stowaway bags to hide shoes, keys, electronics, mail, etc. on these racks. Here are some classic options:

Baskets

Whether in your pantry or on display on a shelf, baskets are the handiest way to store groups of little items in one place. I’ve always had a basket on my counter to hold my tea bags and tea strainer. Baskets are also easy to move when you want to clear a space.

These are some of my favorite looks for kitchen baskets (I love the texture of seagrass!):

Cabinetry and Containers

Lastly, if there is room in your kitchen space it may help to add some small cabinetry and pretty containers. You can use these to stow away any unsightly packages or display staples decanted from their packaging. Sweet little spice jars could line these cubbies…

These ideas are getting me excited for our renovated kitchen….our food stash will never look so pretty!

Be sure to pin for later…
