Scandinavian Inspired Spring Table Setting
Spring is officially here and it is certainly a strange one. Although nature is luring us out of doors to enjoy new blossoms and warmer air, a pandemic is pushing us back indoors. Our whole country is living in a bizarre reality, yet one can feel how this phenomenon is uniting us. We are banded together through suffering, sacrifice, patience, generosity, concern, and compassion. Virtual connection has replaced a physical embrace, but humanity is rising to the occasion. All this leads me to the modest topic of this post – a spring table setting.
Easter is coming on April 12th. It doesn’t look likely that we will be able to spend that day with extended family and that is a sorrowful reality. Yet that particular day is full of hope. It represents the miracle of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead. No matter the turmoil in this world, we have that triumphant joy to exclaim. And so we will celebrate. I will set a pretty spring table setting and we will sit down and mark the occasion. It will be a Sunday set apart from all others in an upside down world.
This little post is meant to share the pretty table – a small token to you in a topsy-turvy world. I hope it gives you a sense of peace, joy, and comfort.
Scandinavian Inspired Spring Table Setting
On one of my few recent trips to the grocery store I spotted these light pink chrysanthemums. They were just the perk I needed to begin planning my Easter table. I decided on a simple Scandinavian inspired theme with light colors, wood beads and handmade elements.

Hygge Vases
First I trimmed the flowers to fit inside my hygge mason jar vases. The wood beads embellishing the vases compliment the long wood bead garland I laid across the table.
Table Runner
I began layering the table with my handmade table runner. The knitted edge adds just the right texture and interest.
Bunny Ears Napkin
Have you seen this idea on Pinterest? You simply fold up a cloth napkin, tie it together, and place an egg in the middle. The top ends look like bunny ears. 🙂
I think my faux bunny approves.
Easter Nest Centerpiece
For the centerpiece of my Easter spring table I made a ‘nest’ of sorts. I placed Spanish moss in my hand-crocheted harvest basket, along with crocheted eggs & a cake banner I had made years ago.
The nest was placed on a cake stand alongside a pair of brass candlesticks that I had found at a thrift store a few months ago.
Get the Look…
The only thing I bought for this table setting were the flowers. With things as they are these days, it makes sense to be resourceful & use what we have to make a table special. Perhaps you have similar pieces at home to create your own Scandinavian-inspired table setting? The key is simplicity and focusing on what’s truly important – the folks around your table.
If you’d like to try to recreate this look with a few purchased items, you can find similar pieces below (or click the links above to see my handmade project tutorials).
I’m hoping that you and your family will share a joy-filled Easter table this year, even if it has to be ‘virtual’.
In Jesus’ own words:
“I have told you this so that you might have peace in me. In the world you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world.” (John 16:33)
Take courage, my friends.
