FREE PRINTABLE Advent Calendar Tags {Scandinavian Style!}

Looking for cute Christmas advent calendar gift tags?  Advent calendars are a lovely way to countdown the days leading to Christmas.  They are called ‘Advent’ since they represent the Advent season, the period of days where we await the coming of our Lord.  It has always been a beautiful time of anticipation, awaiting Love itself.  What a joy it is to countdown those days, and we can make it more special by using Advent calendar tags.  Today I have a free printable of Advent gift tags for you!  They have Scandinavian style, which is a lovely touch for Christmas countdown gifts.

Advent Calendar Christmas countdown tags you will love!

There are 24 days in December that lead to Christmas day, December 25th!  Those days are always filled with anticipation and excitement.  Christmas is coming and it is such fun to count down the days (maybe hours if you are a child!).  It has often been a tradition in many homes to use an Advent Calendar to count those days.

Another tradition is to use Advent number gift tags on 24 individual gifts to be opened each of those days.  It’s especially fun for children to open a small treat each day in anticipation of Christmas.  It spreads the joy throughout the season and reminds us of the greatest gift we receive on Christmas: Jesus Christ is born!

You can choose to use a variety of Christmas countdown tags for these Advent gifts and calendars, depending on what style you love.  How about Scandinavian Christmas tags?  I happened to love anything Hygge, Nordic, and Scandinavian so that is the cozy style of Advent tags I designed for you today.  Take a look…

Christmas Advent Calendar Gift Tags – all about the design

I designed these countdown advent tags using a variety of adorable Nordic style Christmas graphics.  If you enjoy Hygge style, you will love the white sheep, reindeer, baskets, Christmas trees, sled, wreaths, and stockings.  I think my favorites are the fuzzy sheep, birch logs, and festive wreath.  The cozy armchair is also beckoning to me.

I also chose graphics that feature handmade items, since this blog focuses on knit, crochet, and sewing crafts.  For instance, sweet, knitted mittens and handmade stockings are showcased in the graphics.  If you knit, sew, or crochet, these would be perfect gift tags to put on your small handmade pieces throughout Advent!

How can you get this free printable for Advent calendar numbers?  I have a free pdf download which contains all 24 Advent calendar tags, as well as number-free tags.  You can use the number-free tags as Nordic Christmas tags for regular gifts.

After downloading the digital file of tags, simply print them out on 8.5”x11” hard card stock paper.  Avoid thin office paper, as it isn’t as sturdy.  It is best to print on plain white paper, rather than colored paper.  This will ensure the graphics are the star of the tags!

Next, use scissors to cut out the Advent gift tags, following the outline of the tag.  Poke a hole at the top, then string through twine or thread to attach tags.  I think the tags look perfect with thin brown twine or baker’s twine.  Plain white cotton string works, too!

Where do I hang the Advent calendar tags?

Once you have printed out all 24 Advent tags, you can use them in a myriad of ways, such as the following…

Hang Nordic Christmas Tags on a Christmas Tree

For each day during the Advent season, count down to Christmas by hanging one of the tags on a small Christmas tree.  Mix them in with neutral-style ornaments, too.

Hang the tags on an existing Advent Calendar to countdown Advent.

If you already own a calendar that holds tags for Advent, replace your existing tags with these new ones.  It will be a nice change to switch to Scandinavian and cozy style this year!

Another bonus to these Advent calendar tags is that you can always re-print them if the tags get crumpled or man-handled by little fingers.  😊

One of these wood Advent calendars would be a good choice, if you don’t already have one:

Tie the Advent tags on Advent Gifts

Maybe you enjoy giving out little treats or small toys during each day of Advent.  It is a generous way to spread the giving cheer throughout these days.  Whether you are using little boxes, or perhaps cloth or brown paper bags, tie these Advent gift tags onto each package.   Or use little baskets to put the gifts in!

I found these lovely vessels that would be perfect for tucking away Advent gifts:

You could also tie in the gift with the corresponding image on the tag.  For instance, choose Advent gifts such as these:

  • Mini reindeer ornament
  • Sweet fuzzy sheep
  • Tiny wood star
  • Tiny Christmas tree
  • Little bird house
  • Mini stocking

The little gifts will be truly appreciated along with the sweet gift tags.

Can I use these Hygge Christmas tags without the number?

If you don’t plan to countdown to Christmas with an Advent calendar, but love the graphics on these tags, you can print them without numbers.

Print out a bunch of the tags, then use them for all your Christmas gifts this year.  Simply write the “To:” and “From:” information on the back of the Hygge Christmas tags.

    HI there,
I’d love to be able to print these tags. I entered my email as suggested, but didn’t get an email with the link. I checked my junk mail and it’s no where to be found. Hmm. Any help would be appreciated.

I took a look into my email system, and I do have you recorded as a new subscriber. Two emails were sent to you on Nov. 25th (around 10:37pm). One email contained the gift tags printable, and the other email was a welcome introduction.
My email system shows that these emails were delivered, but not yet opened.
The subject line should say “Welcome to a Box of Twine” and the return email address is this one (susan@aboxoftwine.com).
Perhaps the emails could have been automatically put in another folder of yours?

Make sure that my email address is white-listed as a legitimate address for you.
