Farmhouse Style with Fall Foliage

The leaves are at their vibrant peak here in New England, and I’m enjoying the view! Do you have gorgeous fall foliage where you live? Each year I treasure the view outside our windows when the maples turn to red, orange and yellow. The best way I can capture the moment is by clipping a few branches from two of our small trees and showcasing them indoors.

Thankfully, rustic autumn branches fit right into the simple farmhouse style I strive for in our home. Today I styled our dining room table with just a few pieces for utmost farmhouse simplicity.

Showcasing Fall Foliage

I had previously posted about decorating with faux foliage here, but that was before the real stuff came out full-force in nature. I had also recently shared a post about setting a beautiful fall-themed tablescape here when hosting family and friends.

Now that the trees are bursting with color, I’m finding that simplicity rules. I opted to keep our farmhouse table practically bare in order for the real branches to be the ‘star of the show’.

First I placed the big bunch of foliage branches in a rustic galvanized container for the centerpiece. Next, I simply set white china in varying heights to keep the foliage company. The ironstone covered dish and white coffee pot don’t compete with the dramatic foliage, but provide a quiet accompaniment.

Lastly, the sweet pile of creamy baby boos (white mini pumpkins) surrounded by tiny foliage leaves gives texture to the table.

A fall-colored throw in the bookshelf corner ties the colors and farmhouse theme together. I’m ready to snuggle up here and grab a book. Hopefully my homeschooled children are also inclined to spend time here and read. 🙂

Since these leaves won’t last much longer, we will be sure to enjoy them while they’re here.
