Farmhouse Christmas with Ticking Stripes
This year I decided to decorate our dining room for Christmas with a ticking stripe theme. It’s a perfect accent for farmhouse Christmas style. I wanted to include the blue/gray color from berries on juniper branches for our color theme this Christmas. And what better way to showcase the blue than with ticking stripes!
Last month I began my planning for Christmas decorations by deciding upon the Juniper & Cream theme. I knew I wanted juniper sprigs with blue/gray berries and cream textures to balance out shiny Christmas objects. After making these ticking stripe ornaments, I thought the blue stripes would be a fitting pattern to go along with this theme.
Hence, a Farmhouse Christmas ticking stripe dining room….
Dining Table
For the dining table, I added a blue striped runner (that is actually a window valance) and wood candlesticks. The candles are embellished with ticking stripe fabric ribbons (made from cutting the fabric diagonally).
Those are real juniper sprigs strewn along the table, as well as on the back of the dining chairs. I tied the sprigs with more ticking stripe fabric ribbon to fasten.
The blue and white ticking stripe go well with both our rustic wood farmhouse table and elegant French style chairs.
Both real and faux greens adorn the chandelier above (faux eucalpytus and Christmas tree clippings).
Settee Seating
This settee against the window happens to be our dog’s favorite place to watch the squirrels outside. He can also admire the gorgeous wreath above and ticking stripe ornament tree nearby…
I was going to move these ornaments to our large real tree in the living room, but decided they looked perfect on this tree.
Even the large wreath got some ticking stripes on its’ bow…
Along with my muslin ribbons, the gifts under the little tree got embellished with these lovely faux juniper sprigs. They were a surprise gift from my sister & Mom after we shopped at the Wrentham Country Store last weekend. We found them at my friend Sandi’s booth – she’s so talented!
Farmhouse Style Buffet
We have a lovely old buffet on the opposite wall of the dining room. I had purchased a juniper garland from Sandi and put it on our small shelf here.
Simple is best for the buffet this year. I only added greenery, rustic winter wood decor, and a small faux tree.
The tree is set in my crocheted rope basket (find the pattern for that here) and wrapped with some chunky yarn I knitted with my arms(!).
Baker’s Rack
The last corner of the dining room to showcase is the baker’s rack. We found this antique rack several years ago at an antique mall, and it’s definitely come in handy for extra storage.
The only Christmas decorations I added here were a yarn pom-pom garland and wreath I had made years ago, as well as what else – juniper sprigs!
The green is a perfect contrast against the white ironstone and blue china pieces.
I hope you enjoyed this little tour of our ticking-stripe themed dining room! Thanks for stopping by.
