How to set a spring farmhouse table

Easter is coming up and spring is in the air! This is the perfect time to prepare your table for hosting a delightful spring dinner. With that goal in mind, I’ve got a simple spring table setting to share with you today.

Our family is hosting Easter dinner this month, so I’ve been playing around with spring table setting ideas on my farmhouse table . Keeping the focus on Christ’s joyous Resurrection, I wanted to bring in the hopeful elements of spring – greenery and life!

The table has all my favorite things from the world of decorating – farmhouse ticking, wood, greenery, knits, ironstone, vintage china, lavender, galvanized jug and aged-look terracotta pots. Come have a seat…

Layering a Farmhouse Table

To begin my spring setting, I first layered the table with a ticking runner. I actually used 2 pieces of ticking curtains I had on hand and folded them lengthwise. This is a great way to use any fabric you have on hand for a special occasion runner.

Next I placed dried lavender in a galvanized jug for the centerpiece, flanking it with two terracotta pots that I recently ‘aged’ with paint. I placed live lavender plants in my pots, which smell heavenly.

I also spread a faux greenery vine across the runner, curving it here and there. The greenery in the vine and the ‘aged’ pots bring that special spring pop.

Next I brought out my durable white china plates, and topped them with favorite blue and white vintage salad plates.

Soft gray cotton napkins are wrapped in my handmade knitted napkin rings.

A farmhouse table setting isn’t complete without ironstone! Here you see one of my all-time favorite flea-market finds – a crazed ironstone jug:
