Magnolia Home Fashions Fabric Pillows

The fabrics I selected from the Magnolia Home Fashions line are Galileo Desert and Cottage Stripe Tranquil. The colors from these fabrics blended perfectly together so that I could coordinate the pillow covers I made.
Pillow Cover Choices
I decided to use one yard of the Galileo Desert fabric for my slightly larger pillow. I sewed that pillow cover using a flange style (see here for a great tutorial on how to make a flange pillow cover).
Next I used the sweet cottage stripe fabric to cover a couple of small pillow forms I had on hand. These pillow covers were even easier to make, because I left the flanged edges raw – quintessential farmhouse style. (That meant I simple placed my wrong sides of fabric together, and sewed around the pillow cover with the edges left raw).
Two yards of this striped fabric was plenty, since I didn’t have to center the pattern (which the Galileo Desert required).

Which ones are your favorites?
Pillow covers are a great way to make a design or seasonal change in your home, and covering an existing pillow usually doesn’t cost too much – it just takes up a little time to sew them. But trust me, pillow covers are some of the easiest sewing projects you can try. Have a go at it!
