“Barista Blue” Coffee Cup Cozy
The cozy has an interesting varied texture with a soft blue yarn color. The finished cozy measures approximately 3” wide by 10.5” long (with tab).
Supplies
- Minimal yards of Medium Weight (4) yarn to make ONE cup cozy. (I used Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in Silver Blue)
- Size G Crochet Hook, scissors
- one BUTTON, 1″ diameter
Steps – how to crochet a coffee cup cozy:
Chain 29 sts (or chain to the length you want, as a multiple of 2 plus 1).
Row 1: 1 DC in 4th ch from hook (counts as 1st DC), DC in each ch across. Turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, (SC, DC) in first DC, *sk next DC, (SC, DC) in next DC, rep from * across, SC in tch. Turn.
Row 3: Ch 3 (counts as DC), DC in each st across. Turn.
Rows 4-5: Repeat rows 2-3.
Tab:
Do not turn after last row. Working on short side edge,
Row 1: SL 2 sts, SC 3 sts. (see below) Turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, SC 3 sts. Turn.
Rows 3-4: Rep Row 2.
Buttonhole: Ch6, sk 2 sts, SC in last st. (see below)
SL st down side of tab, then to the other corner:
Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Fit the cozy around your usual coffee cup, then add a button for best placement.
Crochet Cup Cozy put to use:
You can simply slide your cup cozy on your to-go coffee cup, or perhaps fasten the button under your favorite coffee mug handle. The button provides a way to customize the fit of your coffee cup cozy. Feel free to choose a smooth wood button to compliment the natural brown coffee beverage, or pick a bold colored button to jazz it up. Your choice! As long as the button is about 1″ diameter or more, the tab should fit around it.
** The cup cozy would fit best around a cup that is not too slippery, since it could slide down if the cup texture is too shiny and smooth.
Do you sell crochet items at craft fairs? These cup cozies would be a fabulous addition to your inventory. They take minutes to make, plus everyone loves coffee!
Remember, I also have this pattern included in a bundle of 10 cup cozy patterns in my ETSY SHOP. Perfect for craft fair variety!
I hope you give this easy crochet cozy pattern a try, then let me know how you customize it. I’d love to see your work.
