Here at A Box of Twine, we’re all about keeping things simple.  How about an easy gift tag idea that doesn’t take much time to make and can be used year-round? (not just for Christmas!)  These cute tags take minutes to crochet and will add just the right touch to a gift (especially one for a yarn-lover).

Simplicity at its finest, they’re perfect for a last-minute gift.

Here is the free pattern to make 1 tag:

Supplies:

F (3.75mm) crochet hook

Minimal yards of Medium weight (4) cotton yarn (I used Premier Home Cotton in color Cream)

Easy Crochet Gift Tag pattern

Ch 6 loosely.

Row 1: SC in 2nd Ch from hook, SC across, Ch 1, turn.

Rows 2-10: Repeat Row 1 for total of 10 rows.

Row 11: SL in 2nd St from hook, SC next St, Ch 3, Skip 1 St, SC in next St, SL in last St.

Bind off.

That’s it!  Now you can simply string some pretty ribbon or twine through the tag loop.

My tags have crinkled seam binding that you can easily find on Etsy.

And as promised, here are a few ways to use these tags:

1. Fasten it to a gift.

2. Add some flair to a cabinet doorknob.

3. Embellish a gift bottle.

4. Use as a bookmark.

5. Add to some ornaments for the Christmas tree.

I bet you can come up with more ideas.  Make a bunch and turn them into a garland (or add them to an existing garland).

Most importantly, have fun!

Remember to pin it for later…
