My Blogging Journey
Although I love working on this blog (A Box of Twine), it’s not my first venture into blogging. For several years I posted over at www.EvelynandRose.blogspot.com where I shared home decorating projects, styling and flea market adventures. My children were younger and in school, and I loved the hobby as a stay-at-home-Mom. Many lovely virtual friendships began with that blog, and my writing, photos, and home got published in a few magazines!
Things changed in 2015 when our family decided to homeschool our children, then ages 10 and 8. Blogging was put on the back-burner for a while, as I began choosing curriculums and spending precious mornings with these two:
The enjoyment I got from decorating our small Cape Cod house never waned, but my priorities got adjusted as I spent my days with these two kiddoes.
After a while, I felt the pull back to blogging. There’s no place like a blog to tell a story about a beautiful craft. We all have stories to tell, lessons learned and tips to share with our creative endeavors. Abiding in this small home has taught me much about what it means to live simply and with purpose; keeping family and faith a priority, while designing a welcoming space within 1400 sq. feet.
Now years later, my children are teens and our homeschooling days are over. My son is in college and my daughter attends a private Catholic High School:
This bittersweet time offers more opportunities for me to connect with YOU over crafts.
I’d love to share with you my passion for creating in a simple way with yarn for your home, wardrobe, and your loved ones. A Box of Twine provides simple crochet & knit patterns with a classic, neutral style. I mainly focus on those yarn crafts these days, but you will also find a few sewing/fabric & decor crafts on this blog from earlier days. Find them in the categories: KNIT, CROCHET, and SEWING patterns, and PRINTABLES. I love sharing my OFFERINGS AND INSPIRATION with you, too.
It has been exciting to have my home and projects featured in national magazines such as American Farmhouse Style, Romantic Country, Romantic Homes, Somerset Life, and Artful Blogging.
Let me tell you – you don’t need lots of tools or oodles of time to craft. Just a few supplies and enthusiasm. Like you, I do not enjoy struggling over complicated crafts! We can FIND TIME for simple patterns that create something beautiful. Often, simplicity can be marvelous.
Please join me in this adventure to get creative in a simple and timeless way.
Be sure to check out the ETSY SHOP for pretty and detailed patterns (ad-free!).
Happy crafting,
Susan
