Favorite Sewing Craft Books
Did you know that March is officially National Craft Month? With March comes spring, that glorious season of rebirth. It is therefore a fitting time to bring out our artistic side and elevate all that is crafty. I created this blog late last year as a vehicle to share simple projects with you, in addition to simple ways to focus on what is important in life. There is a world of beautiful projects out there to explore, and it is in our very nature to be creative – just like our glorious Maker.
Over the years, I’ve enjoyed creating using various mediums – fabrics, yarn, paper, wood, and let’s not forget glitter! There are several books that I’ve turned to again and again for inspiration. This month I’ll be sharing some of my all-time favorite craft books, patterns and projects with you. Perhaps you’ll see something that speaks to you and be inspired. That’s my hope!

Craft Books – Sewing
Today’s post will focus on my favorite sewing books and projects. During the month I’ll continue to share my favorite craft books for other mediums. For now, grab your needle and thread and get inspired….
Tilda Sewing books
Have you heard of the Tilda’s World books and craft supplies by Tone Finnanger? These books have always been my favorites for sweet fabric projects. They contain the most adorable patterns for making dolls and animals for children. I also appreciate how the books incorporate vintage pieces and elements into the designs and styled photos.
Tilda Sewing Projects
Several years ago I made these fairyland friends using patterns from the Fairy Tale Wonderland book. My daughter loved them!
Here are some colorful pages from that delightful book:
These pages from the Homemade and Happy book make me happy!
The Tilda Winter Delights book is one of my favorites, with its cute depiction of a vintage craft shop styled for Christmas:
When summertime arrives and I can smell the ocean nearby, the Tilda Seaside Ideas book provides quaint coastal inspiration:
I made these sweet whales with patterns from that book:
Cottage and French Style Sewing books
In addition to the Tilda books, I’ve always enjoyed sewing crafts with a vintage, cottage or French flair. I own the following books which provide projects and patterns to inspire my francophile heart:
If you enjoy English cottage style, this is a timeless classic by Christina Strutt: (I have the original 2006 version of this book “Romantic Home Sewing” listed here)
That about sums it up for my favorite sewing project books. Just looking over this list is prompting me to bring out the sewing machine. I’d love for you to share some of your favorites with me, too!
